Adult books
• Designed books of all kinds for a variety of clients, ranging from the British Film Institute to Guinness Books. On the left is a highly-illustrated book on contemporary Japanese design and technology, published by Quarto.
• Produced titles in close liaison with authors, publishers and editors, along with feedback from sales and marketing teams.
• Created layout design for others to follow, set style sheets for typesetters, through to full-blown dtp production prepared for print.

Magazines
• Involved fast, creative work to tight budgets and strict deadlines, on a regular basis.
• Creative use of two colours to produce exciting covers on a shoestring, as on this selection of monthly National Film Theatre magazines, produced over a two-year period.

Catalogues
• Work has included catalogues for art/film festivals, companies and publishers. Shown is one of a number of catalogues produced for a small Soho gallery, showcasing artists’ work in a sympathetic, non-intrusive way.
• Catalogues ranged from the simple, as on the left, to the complex – requiring careful picture management and methodical production to prepare for print.
• All involved art direction, design layout and handling through production to the printed item.

Promotional material
• Very varied work, according to the subject matter.
• Required sensitivity to the image the client wanted to portray. For example, authenticity of old craft skills was key to the image of the bespoke shoemaker for whom the materials on the left were developed.
• Frequently involved photo shoots, commissioning of illustration, picture research and sourcing unusual print requirements.

Educational publishing
• Many years' experience in the Education sector with the BBC.
• Involved heading a design team, responsibility for major brand development, creating new series and revitalising old favourites. These examples show the refreshed version of an old, but solid, series produced by the BBC.
• Website development, and design and creation of many digital products, from CD ROMs to DVDs.
