HOW WE WORKED

The challenge

The organisation's membership is made up of companies, and its volunteer leadership needed someone to own the membership function day to day: finding and following up prospects, managing agreements, chasing renewals, and reporting clearly to its Steering Committee.
Membership had also only been open to larger organisations, which limited who could take part.

What we did

  • Took on the membership function as an embedded part of the team, working in the organisation's own systems.

  • Built and managed the prospect pipeline, with agreements tracked from first conversation to signature.

  • Supported the launch of a new lower membership tier for organisations previously priced out.

  • Ran renewal outreach ahead of each invoicing cycle.

  • Produced a regular membership update for the Steering Committee covering new members, agreements, prospects, payments and renewals.

The difference it made

20 organisations joined at the new tier within months of its launch, reaching a part of the sector that membership had not served before.
The Steering Committee now has a clear, consistent view of membership at every meeting, and volunteer leaders spend their time on relationships rather than administration.
